What Are Dentures?
An option to restore your smile, enhance your appearance, and live with confidence.

Dentures are removable prosthetic devices designed to replace natural teeth that have been lost. Each set of dentures is custom-made by a dentist from impressions of your mouth, ensuring a comfortable, natural look and fit thanks to modern technology.

Advantages of Wearing Dentures

  • Improves facial aesthetics, preventing a sunken appearance or wrinkles.
  • Aids clear speech, reducing lisps or slurring.
  • Enhances chewing ability, improving nutrition and enjoyment of food.
  • Helps maintain jaw-joint health by balancing muscle forces and bite.
  • Boosts confidence in social situations, so you don’t worry about missing teeth or an unattractive smile.

⚠️ Limitations of Dentures

  • May feel uncomfortable at first and require an adaptation period.
  • Some types must be removed and cleaned after meals.
  • Risk of loss if not stored properly when removed.
  • Bases may need adjustments over time as your gums change.
  • Initial speech distortions for certain sounds are possible.

Types of Dentures

1. Complete Dentures (Full Denture)

Used when all natural teeth are missing in the upper or lower jaw. The dentures are crafted to fit the gum contours for comfort and a natural appearance.

Two main kinds of full dentures:

  • Conventional Full Denture
    • Inserted after teeth extraction and about 8–12 weeks of healing.
    • ✅ Pros: Better long-term fit against the healed gum.
    • ❗ Cons: Requires waiting period before insertion.
  • Immediate Full Denture
    • Placed on the same day as tooth extraction.
    • ✅ Pros: No gap period without teeth.
    • ❗ Cons: Likely needs relining or remaking after gums shrink.

2. Removable Partial Dentures

Used when some natural teeth remain. They clip onto existing teeth for stability.
